In-house or as an event | Workshop: Storytelling x Volunteers

Learn to recognize, strengthen, and share the unique stories behind your heritage.

Storytelling x Volunteers

Volunteers are the capital of your organization. This workshop is intended for volunteers, coordinators, and communication staff who want to discover how they can use the heritage they contribute to in powerful storytelling. You will learn how to recognize, strengthen, and share the unique stories behind your heritage. A practical, inspiring session that shows how volunteers play a crucial role in making heritage visible and meaningful.

What do volunteers learn in this workshop?

Through practical examples and simple tools, volunteers experience that everyone can be a storyteller. By the end of the 4-hour workshop, participants will have a concrete narrative, a set of applicable storytelling techniques, and a clear action plan to immediately apply stories within their own organization.

Volunteers discover:

  • what a good story is and why stories work

  • how to make the heritage they work with attractive, personal, and understandable

  • how to connect stories to visitors, local residents, or specific target groups

  • which forms of storytelling fit their own role: oral stories, short texts, tours, posts, photos, theme stories, anecdotes

Contributing to the spread of one's own stories

Volunteers discover how they can play a role in making heritage visible. Thus, they learn that they are a valuable link in the reach and representation of the organization. For example, by:

  • involving visitors by telling stories on the work floor

  • sharing photos and small observations that the organization can use

  • thinking along about themes, activities, and angles

  • becoming an ambassador for the heritage in their own network

Outcome

After this workshop, volunteers feel:

  • more ownership of the stories of your heritage

  • more confident in sharing and disseminating these stories

  • more connected to each other and to the organization

They go home with practical tools, new energy, and a shared sense of pride.

For whom?

This workshop is intended for:

  • Volunteers who are involved with heritage and want to learn how to recognize, shape, and share stories.

  • Coordinators and supervisors of volunteers who want to support their team in telling and disseminating heritage stories.

  • Communication staff and volunteers who want to make heritage visible but have little experience with storytelling or writing.

In short: for anyone who loves heritage and wants to discover how to create more connection, visibility, and engagement through stories.
